Aabha Soumitra is a composer, vocalist, and conductor based in Pune, India. Her work spans diverse fields, including film, theater, independent projects, commissioned compositions, and choir music. Though her musical journey began with Hindustani classical training, her repertoire has since evolved into an eclectic blend of genres, from folk and Western classical to choral, cinematic, and music production. Central to her artistry is a deep curiosity and drive to expand techniques, explore connections between art and the world, and create immersive, transformative musical experiences.

After her early training in Hindustani classical music, Aabha gained hands-on experience assisting at music production spaces in Pune. This led her to pursue formal education in music composition at KM Music Conservatory, Chennai. Her growth continued as she founded her own choir and trained herself in conducting, further enriching her ability to compose and collaborate across mediums.

Aabha’s style of music reflects her multifaceted background, it is marked by a balance between technical finesse and emotional depth. Her compositions often feature intricate layers, blending textures and tones that evoke vivid imagery while maintaining a rooted connection to storytelling and human experience.

Her notable works include the feature film Shyamchi Aai, which was nominated for Best Music at the Filmfare Awards, and Bee Ekke Bee, an EP commissioned by Goethe-Institut and centered on seed conservation, which received wide acclaim. Her singles Dar Dar Bhatkoon and Raabi Re brought her into the public eye and were met with appreciation from a broad audience. The music for the play Something Like Truth has also been highly praised for its evocative quality. Additionally, Aabha was a grantee of Composing in Dialogue, a cross-cultural project in collaboration with the renowned Swiss composer Fortunat Frölich.
